Overview: Complete lack of customer service and poor communication. They only responded when I took my complaint to the BBB.
In July of 2004, I had a salesperson from Rolox come to our home for a vinyl siding price quote. We signed a contract that day, pending approval from our Homeowner's Association (HOA). We were told, among many things, that some rotted wood would be addressed, and in no way would they begin before getting our approval.
A co-worker who also had dealt with Rolox told me to reconsider. His home had Rolox siding when he purchased it, and was having repairs of loose siding done too often for his taste. He also pointed out that on the day we looked, Rolox had an unsatisfactory rating with the Kansas City Better Business Bureau.
One day shy of two weeks later, before I had any HOA approval, they delivered the siding and began installation without my knowledge or approval. The Hispanic gentleman who was working alone mumbled something to the effect that this had happened on a recent previous job! He left the siding and equipment there, waiting for how to proceed next. I had received a voice mail the day before from the saleman, Tom Price. However he did not leave any details, and I had not gotten back to him yet.
As it turns out, our HOA does not currently approve any form of vinyl siding, and there are no homes in our area with it as well.
I contacted Rolox by phone, fax, and certified mail over a half dozen times over the next several weeks to get them to clean up the mess and repair the work they had started. I received no response from them whatsoever.
The only contact Rolox made was to our HOA's management office. They claim that other homes in the "area" have vinyl siding, which is not true. Our HOA president returned their call twice, but received no response.
Only after filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (which returned their rating to 'unsatisfactory') did I receive any type of response or action. They sent someone out to assess the situation and get things cleaned up. The first thing they wanted was to see the siding. I had moved it into my garage to keep the boxes from rotting anymore. I told them that I would not set the siding out for pickup until repair work was started, or I had promise to repair in writing.
It took over THREE months to get my home somewhat restored back to its original state. As you can see from the pictures below, corners of our home were exposed to the elements for some time. I received no apology or call when everything was finished.
Needless to say I would not recommend Rolox to anyone, and not just for siding. I also wouldn't recommend doing expensive home remodeling with any company that has issues keeping a clean slate with the BBB. For siding in the KC area, I would suggest looking at Champion instead, who is a participating member of the BBB.

As an interesting side note, Rolox was once fined by Missouri's Attorney General for violating the Do Not Call list. Click here for details.
